My neighbors did but not that exact model. it didnt work and they felt sad, angry, and depressed. So then they got a filter pump made for their pool. You are better off that way too.

Firstly, your FILTER is a sand filter. The pump is a different piece of equipment. Sand filters use a sifted sand called 20/40 frac. Get it at any pool store. It is screened so all the sand particles are the same size. Filters are engineered and built to use this type of sand. Do NOT use play sand, as some people will tell you. Read the label on the filter. It will tell how many pounds of sand are required. Don't underfill, or overfill.

Muriatic acid to lower the ph, baking soda to raise alkalinity but I would not use bleach for chlorine, remember you get what you pay for. You will needs 3" chlorine tablets for everyday chlorinating, powdered chlorine for weekly shocking.

I am assuming you know how to open the pool yourself and you are looking for maintenance tips after that. First, after opening, shock the pool (read package of shock and use recommended amount which is based on the gallons you have), let the pool run continuously for 48 hours. After 48 hours, have your water tested at a pool store. I would recommend you have your water tested monthly at the pool store and do it yourself with test strips weekly. Pay special attention to the starting pressure on your tank, if it goes 10 lbs above starting you will need to back wash. A weekly regimen of algaecide is needed to prevent algae but be careful that is does not contain copper - copper will stain you pool!

After the 48 hours, run the pool for 8-10 hours a day, you might want to get a timer if you do not already have one.

Good luck and enjoy your pool!

I assume that since it is "full of sand" it isn't really a hole. Just cover the sand with 4" of topsoil, compact it with a rented roller, seed it to good quality grass and water it daily -- or if you're in a hurry, cover the soil with sod.
But pay for the topsoil. The free stuff is either clay or is so polluted with thistle and other weeds that you'll never get a satisfactory lawn.
