what can I expect from an energy auditor from an electric company?

Right now my house is 84 degree AC going constant. I do not know what else I can do other than putting window films up, putting black out curtain up, unplugging all the electronics I am not using, have ceiling fans going constant, shutting of a water heater system, etc, etc, etc…. I do not have swimming pool or anyone else living here on 1500 sq ft home getting direct sun on the long side of the house 12 hrs a day here in Florida.

You have a problem with you air conditioning system if it’s running all day and still 84 inside.Check your temp split between the supply air and the return air.If the difference is lower than 15 degrees, something isn’t right.Just fyi.
Anyway, they will check the insulation r-values in the attic and the walls.Attic vetilation.A/c duct r-values.They will check for single or double paned widows and heat gain.Doors and heat gain.Orientation to the sun.The seer value of the a/c.The water heater. They also do a couple of more checks that I cannot remember. They use some formula with your electric bill.

you can check the efficiency of your a/c…….you will need a thermometer that looks like a long nail with a small dial on one end……with the a/c on and blowing stick the thermometer into the return duct (( usually the Large duct where your filter is)) after a minute or so record the temperature…now stick it into a supply register after a minute or so record the temerature ….. there should be a difference of about 16 – 21 degrees…. if not the system may need maintenance… additional refridgerant… indoor coil cleaned….or outside coil cleaned….they may tell you to help cooling your house to vent the attic…the will check for proper insulating of the home
